LOS ANGELES, CA (July 18, 2001) -- Dallas, Texas-based rock band Deep Blue Something is once again in the swim of things with a brand new self-titled album on EMI-distributed Aezra Records. Released on May 22, it's the band's first full-length CD since the platinum-plus Home, which generated the international Top 10 hit single "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Deep Blue Something spotlights the guitar-driven rock 'n roll, great songwriting, and melodic power pop savvy that established the band as a worldwide favorite the first time they soared up the charts. Two new singles-- targeting different formats-- are slated for release in the coming weeks. Their almost simultaneous release will spread the word across multiple demographics that Deep Blue Something is back in action. The first is "Page Me Wolverine," a bristling, energetic rocker that will be worked at Alternative radio with an additional focus on alternative specialty shows. Edgy and up-tempo, the track has an add date of July 23. Following two weeks later, with an add date of August 6, is "Hell In Itself," a richly textured, melodic reflection on life and love. This beautiful Deep Blue Something song will be serviced to both AAA and Hot AC radio, and is already receiving significant airplay at both formats. The CD-Pro for "Hell In Itself" will feature two re-mixes in addition to the album version. All in all, Deep Blues Something is comprised of thirteen tracks, some self-produced, others helmed by Charles Fisher, known for his work with Savage Garden and Hoodoo Gurus. Tim Palmer-of U2 and Pearl Jam fame-lent his mixing prowess, and the album art is by the renowned Hugh Syme, creator of memorable Aeromsith and Rush covers. The album's lead track was the charming Beatlesque pop-rock number "She Is," which received airplay at Alternative, AAA and pop formats in the Spring, coinciding with the band's coast-to-coast promo tour. Deep Blue Something originally surfaced in Texas in the early nineties when brothers Todd and Toby Pipes founded the band along with John Kirtland and Clay Bergus. After great regional success, they rose to fame when Home, an album they recorded in a tiny Denton, Texas studio and put out on a local label, was picked up by Interscope. Home was re-released internationally and became a smash major label debut, with "Breakfast At Tiffany's" reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. After a creative hiatus following Home's huge success, all four original members of Deep Blue Something regrouped to develop inspired new material and perform an occasional surprise gig. In 2000, they inked an all-new deal with Aezra Records, an innovative, aggressive young company -- Deep Blue Something is their debut for the label. The one-two punch of singles "Page Me Wolverine" and "Hell In Itself" is certain to be music to the ears of fans old and new alike.
